The Orchard Above the Clouds

An imaginary orchard occupies narrow mountain terraces above a sea of cloud. Old wooden channels carry water between fruit trees and weathered glasshouses; everything feels carefully tended, although the gardener is never seen. Koto, shakuhachi and shamisen carry an intimate emotional journey from reserve through tentative trust, anticipation and disappointment into patience, renewed affection, quiet gratitude and enough. These original, fully acoustic instrumentals draw on the Japanese sankyoku ensemble, keeping plucked strings and breath recognizable throughout. The scenery frames the listening; the music speaks directly in feelings.
