The Salt Meridian

The Salt Meridian closes The Hazard Atlas with the oldest wager in exploration: spend water to search for water. A survey caravan follows buried milestones across a salt basin, loses its tracks to wind, and finds one convincing but false well before the final reserve is reached. Hypnotic melodic techno and desert minimalism keep the horizon moving; oud, qanun, ney, darbuka, and frame drum make every measurement tactile. The reward is found beneath an unremarkable stone mouth: a mapped aquifer large enough to change the route home and the future of settlements beyond it.
