The Shape of Feeling

Curiosity, delight, tenderness, longing, unease, anger, hope and belonging: eight feelings, directly expressed through clay, wood, breath and metal. The udu stays at the centre, its rounded bass and dry ceramic strokes answered by oja flute, interlocking ekwe, light ichaka and sparingly placed ogene. These original, fully acoustic instrumentals draw on an Igbo instrumental palette without claiming to reproduce a particular traditional performance or ceremony. The emotional journey of Root, Reed & Resonance returns with a more focused ensemble and less storytelling between listener and feeling.
